Not any peace - a fair peace!
Co-Presidents of the Euronest PA, Mr Sergey Lagodinsky and Mr Ivan Krulko to Ms Kaja Kallas, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission

„In light of recent developments, we, the Co-Presidents of the Euronest Parliamentary Assembly, representing parliaments of countries of the Eastern Partnership as well as the European Parliament, strongly reaffirm our steadfast commitment to the shared principles and interests that unite the European Union and our Eastern Partnership countries.
The sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries in Europe are inviolable. Upholding the rules-based order on our continent is in our best and common interest. The current borders of European countries cannot be altered by deals between external superpowers, over the head of affected countries subjected to aggression. Any such attempt endanger regional stability of our countries and the global security.
Thus, we emphasize that any negotiations aimed at resolving the war of aggression against Ukraine must include Ukraine at the table, giving it a role that is fair and respectful. It is not about peace by any cost, it is about peace that is fair. A flawed or unjust peace agreement further perpetuates conflict and suffering.
We also reaffirm that nations should be represented by leaders that are chosen by their people within the framework of their constitutional laws. In accordance with Ukrainian laws, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is the legitimate representative of the Ukrainian people. The authority to determine the leadership of Ukraine rests solely with its citizens and their democratic laws.
In these challenging times, the unity and strength of the whole Europe beyond EU Member States are paramount. The future of the European Union and its Eastern neighbours is interconnected. Our collective security, prosperity, and adherence to democratic values depend on our solidarity and resolve. We must stand together against attempts to sow discord or weaken our alliances.
We stand in solidarity with Ukraine and all nations upholding their right to self-determination and territorial integrity and call on EU Member States and our own governments to do everything in their powers to contribute to these principles.“
